Gestalt psychotherapy in Krakow city centre
Welcome, and thank you for visiting.
My name is Anna O’Dwyer and I am a Gestalt psychotherapist in training at the Gestalt Institute in Zabierzów. My work is supervised in line with European Association for Psychotherapy and European Association for Gestalt Therapy standards.
I work with individual adults (18+). At the beginning of our work together, I am interested in understanding what each client hopes to gain from investing in psychotherapy.
We all experience times of difficulty in our lives. Relational Gestalt psychotherapy explores how we can make sense of our experiences, both through our relationships outside the therapy room and through the unique therapeutic relationship we create together.
Gestalt psychotherapy aims to increase awareness of our relationships and of how we live our lives by exploring how we make sense of our current situation. This is achieved through dialogue that focuses on what we are noticing in the here and now.
I believe that each of us carries inner potential and resources that often remain undiscovered, but can be accessed even in moments of struggle. Depression, anxiety, anger and emptiness are all important signals of the body’s wisdom – a way of telling us that it may be time for change and growth.
How I Work
I believe that most of us have the capacity to form meaningful connections with others and to lead satisfying, creative lives. Sometimes, however, we become stuck when fixed patterns and beliefs about ourselves begin to limit us.
In Gestalt therapy, I work collaboratively with clients to explore the patterns that shape their lives and important relationships. I pay attention to what is happening in the present moment – in thoughts, emotions and bodily experience.
An embodied approach means noticing how we experience ourselves through our bodies and how our body responds to what is happening around us. By staying close to these sensations and feelings, we can begin to better understand ourselves and our way of being in the world.
Rather than interpreting or assuming, I aim to meet each client with openness and curiosity. Together, we explore not only what is happening, but also how it is happening. This process-oriented approach helps us become more aware of the ways we relate to ourselves, to others and to the world around us.
I trust that dialogue is at the heart of therapy. This means paying attention to what happens between us in the therapeutic relationship, even when it may sometimes feel difficult or uncomfortable.
To build a relationship based on trust, I aim to be open and honest. At times, if I feel it may be helpful, I may also share something of my own experience.
Dialogue is about more than words. We can communicate through silence, by noticing what is happening in the body, or through creative forms of expression such as drawing, making simple marks on paper or using movement. Such subtle experiments can help to explore your experience more deeply.
Often, when we move beyond thinking and allow ourselves to feel, we may discover that we are capable to act in a new, creative way.
I am here to support your process and to explore what meaning you create.
